Traffic stop nets numerous charges for Palmerston driver

28-year-old faces impaired driving, dangerous operation and other charges

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH -The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Palmerston resident with several charges stemming from a traffic stop.

On Feb. 14, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP conducted a traffic stop on Sligo Road in Mount Forest.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old resident of Palmerston is charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Drive Motor Vehicle-Fail to display two plates
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Feb. 25, 2025.
