Impaired driver arrested after being caught speeding

A 32-year-old from Dundalk was charged with two criminal and two provincial charges

The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Dundalk resident with two criminal and two provincial charges stemming from a traffic stop.

On Feb. 19 at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP traffic unit were conducting a proactive traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, and initiated a traffic stop ON-89 Highway within Wellington North Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old of Dundalk is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • dangerous operation
  • possess more than one licence
  • drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
  • operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on March 7.
