Rockwood teen badly injured during altercation involving weapons

Two teens were charged with aggravated assault and the victim was taken to a Hamilton trauma centre

Two teens face aggravated assault and other charges after a disturbance which left a third teen with severe head injuries.

Approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police were called to Burns Drive for reports of an injured male. Investigation revealed several teens were involved in an altercation, during which one of them was struck in the head with a weapon.

Burns Drive, in front of Burns Drive Park, was closed to through traffic for investigation on Sunday.

An 18-year-old Rockwood man was transported to Guelph General Hospital and later transferred to a Hamilton trauma centre. Weapons including a rifle, knife and collapsible baton were seized during the investigation.

Two Guelph males, aged 17 and 15, are charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, wearing a disguise while committing an offence and mischief under $5,000. They were held for bail hearings.
