Wellington County OPP rescued a dog from a hot car in Elora.

ELORA – A dog named Lester is in recovery and its owner charged after police were called to rescue a dog in distress from a car in Elora yesterday afternoon.

A post on the OPP West Region's Facebook page said Wellington County OPP officers responded to the scene after receiving calls about a dog left in a car in an Elora parking lot Wednesday.

Called Lester, the dog has since been rescued and is pictured on the OPP's account playing with officers and drinking water. It is unknown whether Lester was returned to the owner.

The post says the owner was charged but does not say with what.
