Guelph/Eramosa driver, 95, charged in death of pedestrian last month

GUELPH – A 95-year-old man has been charged following a collision last month which resulted in the death of a Guelph woman.

Approximately 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26, a Chevrolet sedan leaving the parking lot of a retail store on Eramosa Road near Stevenson Street North struck two pedestrians who were walking towards the store.

As a result of the collision, a 72-year-old Guelph woman sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 74-year-old Guelph man sustained minor injuries and was transported to Guelph General Hospital.

The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and was cooperative. On Sunday a 95-year-old from Guelph-Eramosa Township was charged with careless driving causing death.
