CENTRE WELLINGTON – Police say they are hoping to identify the owner of a dog after a biting incident earlier this month in Fergus.

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say the incident occurred on Tower Street on Oct. 1.

Police say shortly after 9 a.m., as a local resident attended a business, two dogs were reported to have been tied up outside the front door where the incident took place.

Police said the resident sustained an injury deemed to be minor and did not seek medical attention at the scene.

It was reported later that the person attended a local hospital to get treatment as a precaution and Public Health was notified.

OPP are seeking public assistance to identify the owner of the dogs, which they described as "large in size and darker in colour".

Police asked anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122.
