Niagara Falls driver caught by RIDE road stop in Fergus

OPP charges man, 32, with three offences

On Sept. 2, at approximately 2:30 p.m officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road, Fergus.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety.  As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old from Niagara Falls, was charged with:

  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes contrary to Tobacco Tax Act
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court - Guelph, at a later date.
