Belwood woman charged with impaired driving

On September 12, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Scotland Street, Fergus.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, an 18-years-old Belwood woman was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Novice Driver - B.A.C. above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available contrary to Cannabis Control Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, at a later date.
