Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in crash north of Guelph

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH ERAMOSA  Police say a driver in their late 20s was transported to hospital by air ambulance after a serious crash this afternoon north of Guelph.

At around 2 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a collision on Wellington Road 51.

"Initial reports indicated that a red sedan had left the roadway, and the driver was seriously injured," the OPP said in a news release.

Emergency services responded.

Police say the lone occupant of the vehicle, a 29-year-old driver from Listowel, was transported by Ornge Air Ambulance to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, police say.

Crash reconstructionists were expected to have the roadway closed till late evening, police said.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and anyone with information to it is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.
