York police raid clandestine magic mushroom lab in Puslinch

The lab was found at a rural property on Victoria Road South and is connected to a raid in Hamilton where 100 pounds of mushrooms were seized

PUSLINCH – York Regional Police said it has uncovered a large illegal magic mushroom operation south of Guelph.

A media release from York Regional Police said its guns, gangs and drug enforcement unit dismantled a large illegal psilocybin mushroom operation at a rural property on Victoria Road South in Puslinch.

Police said the investigation into psilocybin mushroom distribution began in August 2024 after a search warrant at a residence in Whitchurch-Stouffville where a small grow lab was found.

This led investigators to the Puslinch and Hamilton area.

Police first raided a home in Hamilton on Tuesday where 100 pounds of mushrooms and a quantity of cash were seized.

At the property in Puslinch, police said they found a “large manufacturing facility” where it’s believed the lab is producing the mushrooms for illegal commercial distribution across Ontario.

“This discovery is one of the largest psilocybin lab operations uncovered by York Regional Police,” a media release said.

The investigation is ongoing.
