Traffic stop nets numerous charges for Fergus driver

CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges local resident with numerous Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act offences.

On Dec. 5, 2024 at approximately 8:15 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a suspicious motor vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Darroch Way within the Town of Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old from Fergus was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • No clear view to front
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Obstruct plate
  • Insecure load

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
