Suspect faces five criminal charges in connection to investigation

The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge an Elora resident in relation to a criminal investigation.

On Jan. 24 at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at an address within Centre Wellington Township, where a criminal investigation took place.

On Feb. 3 as a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old of Elora is charged under the Criminal Code, with the following:

  • Assault
  • Forcible confinement
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault cause bodily harm - choke, suffocate or strangle

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
