The Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club (CWCDC) has been empowering kids, teaching drama, and producing quality productions since the mid-1970’s. The group is excited to present this year’s Tuesday Night group production, an original work, Season’s Greeters on April 5 at the Grand Theatre in Fergus.

“Season’s Greeters is written by our CWCDC Director, Gerard Gouthro,” explained Lisa, a spokesperson for the event. “It’s an original comedic play about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and many other holiday mascots, and their annual conference.”

CWCDC runs drama groups for children in the area from Grade 4 to Grade 8, on Monday or Tuesday nights. The club began as an offshoot of the Elora Community Theatre, when ECT founder Pat Chataway began a Saturday morning group for children. Through the decades, it has survived and thrived due to countless volunteer hours from many supporters, parents, and children. The Club is very grateful to the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora for its support.

“Each year, students participate in a variety of drama games, exercises and techniques and work toward a polished theatre performance for their school and public,” said Lisa. “This year’s Tuesday night group’s play really is hilarious.”

According to Lisa, Season’s Greeters follows the guardians of the holidays as they gather for their annual conference. For the past 149 years, Santa Claus has hosted the gathering at the North Pole and, each year, he has won the coveted Holiday Guardian of the Year Award. But not this year! This year the Bunny Family is bringing the festivities to Easter Island in a bid to change their luck.

Lisa finished, “Consider this your invitation to attend this year’s convention! Meet all of your favourite holiday mascots and see if Santa’s streak will finally be stopped or if he will make it 150 straight wins...you’ll have to make the trip to Easter Island to find out!”

Season’s Greeters is being performed April 5 at 2 and 7 p.m., at the Fergus Grand Theatre, 244 Andrew St. West, Fergus. Tickets, $20 adults, $15 students and seniors, can be purchased through the Box Office or online here.

Lisa encouraged, “When your favourite holiday mascots gather, hilarity ensues. Support these awesome kids and come watch their play!”
