Traffic stop leads to multiple charges for Elora driver

The 21-year-old faces speeding, careless driving charges

CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges local resident with five provincial charges.

On Jan. 3, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a suspicious motor vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Speers Road within the Town of Elora.

As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old from Elora was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit
  • Careless Driving
  • Improper braking system - commercial motor vehicle
  • Fail to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly
  • Fail to surrender CVOR certificate

The accused is schedule to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
