Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges

Incident occurred on Queen Street, Wellington North Township, at 1 a.m. on New Year's Day

On Jan. 1 at approximately 1 a.m. an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment initiated a traffic stop on Queen Street, Wellington North Township.

As a result of the investigation a 59-year-old of North Perth, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation while Impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on Jan. 17.
