Fergus resident faces assult charges: OPP

Police say the 27-year-old was charged stemming from an investigation on New Year's Day

CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a local resident with two criminal charges stemming from an assault investigation.

On Jan. 1, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., the Wellington County OPP received a report of an assault at an address on St Andrew Street West within the Town of Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old from Fergus was charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
