WELLINGTON COUNTY – The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest of an individual in Wellington County.
On Sunday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Wellington Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual in connection with a criminal investigation. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing, said an OPP news release.
On Monday, while in custody, the individual advised of an injury and was transported to a local hospital for assessment. They were later released from hospital and returned to police custody.
The OPP has notified the SIU of the incident, which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.
