WELLINGTON COUNTY ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

Today at approximately 6:55 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment, along with Wellington North and Centre Wellington Fire and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Side Road 3 West in Wellington North Township.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) was travelling on Side Rd. 3 when it collided with the guardrail before leaving the roadway and becoming partial submerged, upside down in a body of water.
The vehicle was removed from the water and the driver was located inside and later pronounced deceased.
Wellington County OPP with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) and Technical Collision Investigation (T.C.I.) continue to investigate the collision. Side Road 3 West between Wellington Road 6 and Side Road 2 West was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.
