The family of George Warden are very sad to announce his passing away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital in his 98th year on Thursday January 2nd, 2025.

He will be sadly missed by his children Mary (Bill) Earngey and Rob (Lorri) Warden. His grandchildren Matt (Stephanie) and Sarah Warden, Jeff (Albanie) and Kevin (Mandy) Douglas. His great grandchildren Wesley, Rhys, Charlie, Kaitlyn Tanner, Troy and Lily. Predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie of 64 years and his parents George and Kathleen Warden, his sister Kay (Murray) Hamilton and brother Bill (Grace) Warden. Also, predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-laws, Olivia (Charles) Carter, Mary (Norman) Clark, Ross (Myrna) Dunn, Norman (June) Dunn. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

In 1929, Dad (age 2) immigrated to Canada from Ireland with his family on board the ship “Duchess of Athol” to start a new life here in Fergus. He was very proud of his Irish Heritage. His first job (age 16), was working at Superior Barn Ltd. sanding the wood for the tops of stools. After that, he then started working at Beatty Bros. ltd. (GSW), where he stayed for 48 years. Also, he was very proud of the automobiles that he purchased over the years and took pictures of them all. His favourite car was his 1948 Studebaker! He always had his camera out taking pictures in and around Fergus as well.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and PSW’s that were involved in George’s care at Groves memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Sincere thanks to the kind and caring staff at Fergus Caressant Care.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Visitation for George will be held at The Graham Giddy funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus between 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday January 8th, followed by the funeral service being held in the funeral home chapel at 2pm. Burial at Belsyde Cemetery to follow.
