May 28, 1934 – November 6, 2024

On November 6, 2024, with family by his side, David Pessah died peacefully at the age of 90 at the Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph, Ontario. Dave was born in Rouyn, Quebec to John and Dorothy Pessah and was the third of seven siblings. He grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and moved, first to New Liskeard and later North Bay, to follow his career with Ontario Hydro. After his retirement from Hydro, he spent over twenty years working as a consultant, program manager, and energy auditor.

Dave had a generous soul and gave his time and resources to various endeavours and people in need. Close to his heart was Camp Noronto in Monetville, Ontario, where his legacy is evident in tangible form through the A-frame chapel he helped erect in the 1960s as well as many other campground building projects he facilitated throughout the years. His civic service included becoming town councillor and volunteering for the Lions Club, the Children’s Aid Society, World Accord, and other organizations. He had a strong sense of commitment and service to his church, Community of Christ.

Dave is dearly remembered by his children, Sharon Geleyn (Daniel) and Brian (Danielle Trudeau); his grandchildren, Amy Unruh (Chris), Rebecca Geleyn (Gabriel Staples), Emily Geleyn (Kyle Weitz), Andrew (Jessica Cantin), and Michelle; his great-grandchildren, Eloise, Clara, and Alexandre Unruh; and his youngest sister, Sarah Kavsek. Dave was predeceased by his wife, Edith (née Waugh); parents; siblings Ben, Richard, Mary Webber, Katherine Franz, and Margaret; daughter-in-law Tammy; and his beloved dog, Theory.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Emma’s Neighbourhood at the Village of Riverside Glen for the compassion and outstanding care they gave Dave in the last year of his life. Donations in Dave’s honour may be made to World Accord or the North Bay Food Bank.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in the spring (details to follow). Arrangements have been entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (519-843-3100, 280 St. David Street S, Fergus, ON). Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Dave’s memorial.
