James (Jim) Holland passed away peacefully with his sons by his side on November 25, 2024.

Jim grew up in Windsor in humble surroundings with his parents Thomas Kale Holland (predeceased) and Tina (predeceased). Always close to his brother Thomas and his wife Gail.

Jim was also predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Jo-Ann in 2012. They were always proud of their sons Patrick and Peter for what good people they had become and their accomplishments.

While studying at University of Windsor, he met Jo-Ann. He then went to Wilfrid Laurier University and received his MSW. He established mental health services in Parry Sound (9 years), North Wellington (3 years), Kitchener (9 years), worked in private practice, and EAP. Jim also ran “Holland’s Fine Tea” shop in Fergus for 5 years.

The family spent many summer days enjoying the outdoors in the near North, having visited 35 Provincial Parks; their favourites were Rock Point and Killbear Park.

The family would like to thank the medical staff and entire team of the Internal Medicine ward at the Stratford General Hospital for all their amazing care and support the last few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation.

Visitation will take place at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David Street South, Fergus) on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-9 PM. There will be a service at St. Joseph’s Church (760 St. David Street North, Fergus) on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 1 PM, and he will be interred with Jo-Ann in Fergus, where they lived for 30+ years. Following the service and interment, guests are invited to join the family in the Parish Hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

If you are feeling unwell, we will understand if you need to stay home and/or would kindly encourage you to please wear a mask.
