August 26th, 1940 - January 26th, 2025.

The family of Raymond John Henderson, aged 84, are saddened to announce that he passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025.

Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce (2016) and is lovingly remembered by his sons, Phil (Donna) of Fergus, Larry (Tracey) of Elora, Bill (Evelyn) of Elora and Kevin of Guelph. Special Grandpa of Jake (Melanie), Kyle, Chris, Julia (Nick), Corey, Courtney (Ryan), Tyler, Leesha (Tristan) and Karissa. Special Great Grandpa to Wyatt, Cohen, Sawyer, Ainsley, Leah, Lily, Penelope and Delilah.

Ray will be fondly remembered as a kind and selfless man whose love for family, and the simple joys of life will forever inspire those who knew him. Family was always at the heart of Ray's world. He found happiness in hosting family barbecues and gathering around campfires, creating countless cherished memories. His passion for woodworking led to the creation of games, play forts, swing sets, and even mini-putt courses in his backyard, designed with his grandchildren’s delight in mind.

Ray spent many years volunteering with Elora Minor Hockey, first as a coach and later, alongside Joyce, on the organization’s executive committee. His love for fishing was well-known, as were the annual fishing trips he meticulously planned and enjoyed with equal enthusiasm. Another of Ray’s great passions was his vegetable garden. Each year, he planted far more than was needed, joyfully sharing the bounty with family, friends, and neighbours.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at the Elliott Long-Term Care Facility for their compassionate care over the past year.

In accordance with Ray’s wishes, a private service and a celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Ray’s memory are encouraged to consider the Elliott Long-Term Care Facility.

Arrangements entrusted to Graham Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. S., Fergus, 519-843-3100). Visit grahamgiddyfh.com for Ray's memorial.
