July 30th, 1937 - December 31st, 2024
We are heartbroken as we share the news that our dear father, Carl Hall, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Carl spent 62 years with his loving wife, Margaret Hall before she preceded him in death on August 13, 2024.
Cherishing a lifetime of memories while mourning his loss are his children Cheryl Lynn (Joseph), Barry, and Greg (Colleen). Carl was the proud grandfather of Alyssa, Nicholas (Julie), Andrea, Cassidy, Jaelyn, Courtney, Carleigh, Hailey and Kylie, and great grandfather of Emilia. He will be greatly missed by many extended family members and friends.
Carl dedicated his life to farming, operating the family farm in Peel Township throughout his career. In 1994, he retired and constructed a new residence on the farm property. He served his community with distinction, holding the positions of: Councilor, Peel Township, Mayor, Peel Township, First Mayor, Mapleton Township (following municipal amalgamation) and Warden, Wellington County.
Beyond his agricultural pursuits, Carl actively contributed to his community. He served as a clerk at auction sales and dedicated his time to numerous committees within Wellington County. He was a dedicated member of the Alma Optimist Club and the Alma United Church.
Carl possessed a zest for life. He enjoyed extensive travel, exploring both Canada and numerous international destinations. Family was paramount to him, and he cherished spending quality time with loved ones. Carl was a highly sociable individual, relishing the company of friends and engaging in various social activities and games, particularly enjoying card games and pastimes where his good-spiritedness would thrive.
A gathering to celebrate Carl’s life will be held at the Alma Community Centre, 51 Simpson Street East, Alma on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 2-6 PM. This is a casual drop in style celebration where guests can join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments. A small graveside service will be held at the Elora Municipal Cemetery on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carl may be made to the Alma Community Centre or the Canadian Lung Association, and are greatly appreciated by his family. Arrangements entrusted to Graham A Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. S., Fergus, ON, 519-843-3100). Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Carl’s memorial.
