Victim suffers minor injuries during incident in Mapleton

A 37-year-old faces assault charges as a result

MAPLETON — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a local resident with six criminal charges stemming from an assault investigation.

On Dec. 17, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Wellington County OPP received a report of an assault at an address on Elora Street East within Mapleton Township.

On police arrival, one victim was discovered to have minor injuries, but did not require medical attention.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was located and taken into custody after a brief struggle with police, resulting in one officer being assaulted and suffering minor injuries, which also didn't require medical attention at the scene.

A 37-year-old resident of Mapleton Township was charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Mischief - destroys or damages property
  • Mischief - renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective
  • Assault
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (Two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
