Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for a number of areas in southern Ontario, including ours.

A low-pressure system is expected to bring with it rainfall that could be heavy at times.

Following is the full alert from Environment Canada:

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Burlington - Oakville
  • City of Hamilton
  • Guelph - Erin - Southern Wellington County
  • Halton Hills - Milton
  • Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
  • St. Catharines - Grimsby - Northern Niagara Region
  • Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham

Heavy rain this evening through Friday.

Hazards: Rain at times heavy.
Rainfall amounts 25 to 50 mm.

Timing: This evening through Friday.

Discussion: A low pressure system is expected to give heavy rainfall in parts of southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe this evening through Friday.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
