To better understand the perceptions, attitudes, and feelings of residents towards tourism, Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4) is conducting a Regional Resident Sentiment Survey.
The work is generously supported by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario through the Tourism Growth Program. It will be conducted by Bannikin, a southern Ontario based research firm, with support from destination partners, including Destination Stratford, Huron County Economic Development, and Elora & Fergus Tourism.
The survey is focussed on engaging residents of Stratford, Bayfield, Elora, and Fergus. Residents in other communities in the region may be the focus of future waves of the survey. “Creating a system to gauge resident sentiment will allow us to poll any community in the region. It is consistent with regenerative principles in the tourism industry that concentrate on building up places that are lively, affirmative, beautiful, and health-giving for both residents and visitors. We will be able to use this survey system for years as it will be shaped by our staff and that of destination marketing organizations and economic development entities in our region,” says Marie Zimmerman, Director of Projects and Partnerships at RTO4.
The primary data collection tool for this survey is an online questionnaire, which opens on Monday, March 3 2025 at 9 a.m. and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 2025.
We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to fill out the survey here: www.connectcw.ca/tourismsurvey
