MOUNT FOREST – Mount Forest’s water tower is back in action.

The Township of Wellington North announced in a Friday news release the rehabilitation of the water tower, officially called a standpipe, has been completed and is in service again.

The tower, found on Parkside Drive in the south end of Mount Forest, was drained and taken out of commission in May for a $1.5 million rehabilitation project which saw the tower get a new interior lining and a fresh paint job on the outside, maintaining the “High, Healthy, Happy” slogan.

The contractor will continue to be onsite through September while the site is restored.

The township stated in the release some water usage restrictions that were in place have been lifted but some still apply.

Municipal water customers in Wellington North with even house numbers are allowed to use water for outdoor lawn, garden, tree shrub or plant watering on even calendar days.

Homes with odd house numbers can do so on odd calendar days.

These activities are only permitted between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In the case of extreme water shortage, the township may initiate a total ban on non-essential water use.
