HARRISTON – Minto’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee welcome all to celebrate Black Heritage Month with guest speaker Tracy Lee, who will be sharing stories from her ancestors through her presentation “And Then What Happened? Black Canadian History: The Untold Stories.”
This special event is part of the Cultural Connections: A Diversity Learning Series and will take place on Feb. 15, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Harriston Library Community Room (88 Mill St. Harriston, ON), offering an opportunity to explore the rich and often untold stories of Black Canadians and their contributions to the nation’s history.
Guest speaker Tracy Lee, a proud fifth-generation Black Canadian with ancestral roots in North Buxton, Queen's Bush settlement, and the St. Catharines/Niagara/Brantford area, will deliver a captivating presentation. Tracy will share her ancestors' stories of arriving in Canada via the Underground Railroad, highlighting their courage, resilience, and contributions to Canadian society.
"We’re thrilled to bring this vital conversation to the community,” said Marketing & Community Development Coordinator, Erin Raftis. “This event is an opportunity for us to celebrate Black heritage while fostering understanding and inclusivity in Minto.”
Tickets are only $5, and include snacks prepared by May’s Café at the Old Post, and can be purchased online through Eventbrite or in-person at the following locations:
