Mapleton council's combined salary/benefits in 2024 was $164,000

The mayor and councillors recieved 32 per cent and 16 per cent salary increases in 2024

MAPLETON – Mapleton's council saw a bigger payday in 2024 compared to previous years. 

According to a new report, overall remuneration and expenses for Mapleton council totalled $164,099 in 2024 – 91 per cent of the township's council-portion of the operating budget. 

Mapleton council approved salary increases for both the mayor and councillors in November 2023. They were the lowest-paid council in Wellington County at the time. 

The Municipal Act requires each municipality to provide a statement of remuneration and expenses paid to each council and committee member in the previous year on or before March 31. 

As always, Mayor Gregg Davidson had the highest salary in 2024 with $35,482, not including meeting allowances, expenses and mileage. This is a 32 per cent increase compared to 2023. 

Most councillors made $21,800 in 2024, a 16 per cent increase compared to 2023. Newly elected councillor Lori Woodham made $2,012 with no expenses while former councillor Martin Tamlyn made $16,350 with $10,352 in expenses. 

Coun. Amanda Reid had the most expenses at $10,572, with $3,380 for council per diem. 

Approximately $3,138 was paid to the five members of the Committee of Adjustment, including $678 for Woodham. 

The Economic Development Committee made $700 between its five members.

The four members of the Parks and Recreation Committee were paid $200.
