Stephen Kitras as announced Saturday as the provincial New Blue candidate for Wellington-Halton Hills.

Former township councillor and past Queen’s Park seat-seeker Stephen Kitras is set to make a return to ballots, once again representing the New Blue Party of Ontario.

Kitras was announced Saturday as the party’s Wellington-Halton Hills candidate in the next provincial election, expected to be set for Feb. 27. He represented the party in 2022 and received 5.15 per cent of the vote, finishing fifth of six candidates.

The seat went to long-time incumbent Ted Arnott of the Progressive Conservative Party, who previously announced he isn’t running again this time around.

In a submitted bio, Kitras is described as a 37-year resident of Centre Wellington, where he served two terms of township council, ending in 2022.

He’s also the founder and owner of Kitras Art Glass, an international decorative glass manufacturer, which employs 20 people in Fergus.
