ELORA – The “little-big music festival” has announced the music lineup hitting the stage this summer for an annual three-day music festival at Bissell Park in Elora.
Riverfest Elora officials announced folk-punk icons Violent Femmes, indie rockers Fleet Foxes and rising Canadian country singer Josh Ross will headline the 14th edition of the festival running from Aug. 16 to Aug. 18.
“This year’s lineup feels like the strongest group of artists we’ve ever brought to the festival,” says Spencer Shewen, Riverfest Elora’s artistic director, in a press release. “We have something for everyone, with three musically diverse but complementary headliners and an incredible supporting cast that is going to get everyone dancing.”
This year’s festival features 54 performers largely from Canada with seven coming in from the United States. Local acts large and small are featured throughout the lineup as well.
Violent Femmes headline on Friday Aug. 16 with performances that day including Bully, Treble Charger, and Nix & Menno (of Hollerado).
Fleet Foxes headline Saturday Aug. 17 with support including Sudan Archives, Chali 2na & Cut Chemist and Moneen.
Josh Ross closes the festival out on Sunday Aug. 18 with Corb Lund, Wild River and Sarah Shook & the Disarmers.
The release says the festival has grown exponentially since it started as a backyard bash in 2009. The festival now draws in crowds of more than 5,000 each day over the August weekend.
“We are deeply grateful to the community of Elora and Centre Wellington for continuing to support us with their enthusiasm, encouragement and their time,” says David Lander, Riverfest Elora’s newly appointed executive director, in the release. “With a dedicated team of over 500 volunteers, we get to welcome locals and people from across Canada to a truly magical experience each and every year! It’s an honour to be a part of all the incredible moving parts that make the festival the national staple that it has become.”
