At the time, the building is being used as a post office with unoccupied apartments.

Belwood residents are being asked to pick up their mail in Guelph for the time being in the wake of the fire that burned the post office in Belwood earlier this month.

Canada Post issued an update saying that until another solution is found, Belwood residents should pick up their regular mail at the Canada Post facility at 250 Woodlawn Road, Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

"As a result of the fire that took place in the building where the Belwood Post Office was located, our operations team is quickly adjusting our postal operations and working on contingency plans to serve the residents of Belwood," said the update.

"As a result, regular mail delivery has resumed on Monday, November 21. Residents who were picking up their mail at the retail counter of the Belwood Post Office can now temporarily pick up their mail at our Guelph postal facility, located at 250 Woodlawn Road West, from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. They must provide a valid government-issued photo identification when collecting their mail. We are still working on an alternate temporary solution for these customers and we will continue to keep them informed.

"While we look to resume postal services in the community, customers can access postal services at the post office located at 299 St. Andrews Street West in Fergus. They can also pick up carded items at this location by providing a valid government-issued photo identification."

Customers who are missing a mail item or parcel are asked to contact the sender and begin their claim for a refund or have the parcel sent to them again.
