Kitchener driver faces provincial charges following traffic stop in Mapleton

MAPLETON TWP — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Kitchener resident with two provincial charges.

On Dec. 11, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a suspicious motor vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Highway 6 within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old from Kitchener was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Speeding 1-49 Km/h over posted limit
  • Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
