ERIN – Erin’s head of council is seeking a seat at Queen’s Park.
A press release announced Erin mayor Michael Dehn will be the Ontario Liberal candidate running in the Dufferin-Caledon riding.
The press release said Dufferin-Caledon is facing an “unprecedented road safety crisis” with a reported 114 per cent increase in fatal collisions in Caledon in 2023.
“Dehn is committed to supporting the infrastructure and food supply chain challenges that require immediate action,” the release said. “He will push for health and safety prioritized through immediate action on road safety, emergency healthcare and essential infrastructure projects.”
Dehn, first elected Erin mayor in 2022, will be up against Progressive-Conservative incumbent MPP Sylvia Jones who has represented the riding since 2007 and got nearly 50 per cent of votes in the riding in the last election.
Jones was most recently the deputy premier and minister of health in the provincial cabinet.
Other candidates announced for the riding are Sandy Brown for the Green Party of Ontario and Kris Eggleton of the New Blue Party.
