Fencing surrounds the front entrance to the Cineplex in Pergola Commons in Guelph. The movie theatre is shut down because of flooding damage sustained earlier this year.

It’ll be at least a few more months before movies are back up on a big screen in  the south end of Guelph.

The Cineplex theatre on Clair Road has been closed since it was flooded during an intense day of rain in July. Officials previously hoped to have it ready to reopen this fall, but that’s been pushed back.

“The damage at Galaxy Cinemas Pergola Commons was more extensive than originally anticipated, we look forward to welcoming guests back to the theatre in early 2025,” Michelle Saba, Cineplex’s vice-president of communications, said in an emailed statement to GuelphToday. “We will be sure to reach out with more updates as available.”

The theatre was closed following record-setting rain in the area on July 16.
