WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County’s Coldest Night of the Year walks ended up as big successes.

Walks held in Erin and Elora on Saturday both surpassed the goal for the amount of money raised.

The walk in support of the Elora House was just shy of raising $95,000 with a goal of $66,000. The Elora House provides safe housing and support for women who have escaped or are escaping from sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

Almost $70,000 was raised for East Wellington Community Services from the Erin walk, more than double $30,000 goal. East Wellington Community Services supports the Town of Erin and Township of Guelph/Eramosa for social service needs such as seniors’ programs, transportation services, hunger relief and other supports.

Since 2011, the Coldest Night of the Year has raised over $75 million across Canada for local charities across the country.
