Vehicle sideswipes city bus, hits car before landing into ditch: OPP

The 28-year-old driver faces impaired charges as a result

GUELPH — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Guelph resident with a criminal charge stemming from a series of motor vehicle collisions.

On Jan. 23, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were on proactive patrol on Watson Parkway South, Guelph when they were made aware of a motor vehicle sideswiping a city bus, striking another motor vehicle and landing into a nearby ditch. 

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on February 7, 2025.
