Rider charged after ATV collides with parked vehicle in Harriston

MINTO –  Police say a rider faces a number of charges – including impaired driving, driving while suspended and failing to remain at the scene – after an ATV crashed into a parked vehicle in Harriston on the weekend.

The incident took place Oct. 12 at around 8 p.m. on Queen Street South, Wellington County OPP said in a news release.

Following an investigation, a 29-year-old from Harriston was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While under Suspension contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Driving While under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act x 2
  • Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, police said.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
