Guelph-Eramosa teen girl charged after alleged assault videotaped by friends

GUELPH – A teenaged girl is charged with assault after another girl was attacked Wednesday evening while the incident was recorded, Guelph police report.

Just before 7 p.m. police received a call from the victim, who reported she was with a friend near Scottsdale Drive and Wilsonview Avenue when they saw another group of girls known to them.

One girl from the second group approached and began punching the victim while her friends recorded the assault and prevented the victim from leaving the area. The victim sustained minor injuries but did not seek medical attention.

Officers later located the suspect at her home in Guelph-Eramosa Township and placed her under arrest. Investigation revealed she is on two release orders with conditions not to associate with one of the girls who recorded the incident.

A 15-year-old girl is charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. She was held for a bail hearing.
