A Guelph-Eramosa man faces impaired driving charges after several witnesses reported his erratic driving Monday evening.

Approximately 7:30 p.m. witnesses reported a black Jeep being driven erratically and the driver appearing to fall asleep while driving. The driver eventually stopped in the middle of Waterworks Place and crawled under the vehicle to apparently inspect the undercarriage.

Officers arrived and located him lying on the road. While speaking to officers the male was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. He was placed under arrest and transported to the police station, where tests revealed he had nearly three times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 40-year-old Guelph-Eramosa man is charged with impaired driving.
