On Sept. 17, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a serious, motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 18, west of Salem. Initial reports indicated that a red pick up truck collided with a cyclist on Wellington Road 18 between Wellington Road 7 and Eighth Line West.
Emergency service responded and the cyclist, a 55-year-old from Elora, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage, or anyone with information related to the collision, to call 1-888-310-1122.
The roadway remained closed until early morning hours.
