We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jeannine Beatrice Terrell (née Corbeil) on the 4th of January, 2025 at the glorious age of 95. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at Guelph General Hospital.
Jeannine was born on November 12, 1929 in North Bay, Ontario to loving parents Arthur and Beatrice Corbeil. The family moved to Sudbury where they raised seven children. Jeannine was the last of her family to pass on. She survived her brothers Renee, Leo (Marlene), Jacques (Astrid), and Paul (Irene), and her sisters Suzie (George Coles) and Claudette (Ray Poratto). Jeannine is also predeceased by her husband Michael John Terrell (Jack) and her daughter Mary Sue Sochan.
She will be deeply missed by her children Michael Terrell (Jennifer), Kathryn Pollock (Bryan Pollock) Jennifer Terrell-Pin (Steve Pin), Patrick Terrell (Natalie) and her son-in-law Mark Sochan.
Jeannine was cherished by her 19 grandchildren: Tom (Michelle), Jeff, Peter, Sean (Carly), Mikey (Marthe), and Shannon (Matt); Samantha Pollock-Kearns (Mike), John (Alyson), Evan (Adam), Tom, and Simon; Ravenna and Breanna; Meghan, Brad and Keirha; Nikolai, Alexsander, and Kristoff. Memere adored her great- grandchildren: Ben, Rosie, Caleb, Cora, Tom and Nala.
Jeannine will also be remembered by her god-daughter Adele Poratto (Darryl Mullen), and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Jeannine and Jack raised their 5 children on the waters of Lake Wanapitei in Skead, Ontario. She was a woman of unquestionable faith in her Lord and she loved life, whether she was shoveling snow, swimming in her lake or raking leaves, cooking for all the people that she generously welcomed into her home, or sitting with a puzzle and a glass of wine. She was famously open to any opportunity suggested to her by her children, from an African safari in her 80s to a snowshoe adventure and dogsledding closer to the age of 90! Jeannine was always the best dressed and a classic beauty. She was night owl and a music lover and so proud of her large and interesting family from far and wide. She was the friendly and efficient person that made sure students and professors received their text books at Laurentian University bookstore for over 21 years.
Jeannine will be remembered for her independent nature, her faith, her humour and most importantly her love of family. We will miss her to the moon and back. We know she has been embraced in the loving arms of her Lord, and her loved ones who have gone before her
A Catholic Mass and reception will be held at a future date.
