It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden and tragic passing of Braden Carberry on January 8th, 2025, at the age of 49.

An avid fisherman and hunter, but most of all a cherished father, husband, and son, the loss of Braden is greatly mourned by his wife, Kaylie; his sons Blair, Colten, and Chase; and his mother, Aeriol, among other dear family and friends.

Supervisor of the City of Guelph’s Municipal Enforcement and Security Teams, Braden was tragically killed while on the job where he was a cherished and respected member of the City for the past 13 years. Prior to that, he worked for the City of Toronto for 18 years in various capacities. Braden also served as a valued member of the King City Fire Department for six years.

Outside of work, Braden was an avid outdoorsman who spent countless hours in the wilderness with family and friends. Whether guiding, teaching, or passing on his vast knowledge, Braden’s passion for the outdoors shone through. One of the concerns raised by his sons was, “Well who’s going to fish with me now?”. Braden was an honest, kind, thoughtful, and hardworking man- whether at work, at home with his family, or in the boat with a fishing rod in his hand.

The family would like to thank the countless first responders that Braden worked so closely with, the same ones who so quickly and thoughtfully responded on January 8th.

While we mourn his loss, we will remember and celebrate all the best Braden represented in life. He will be deeply missed by the countless lives he touched and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As per his wishes, the family hopes expressions of sympathy may come in the form of a donation in Braden’s name to OFAH and Ducks Unlimited Canada, two organizations dedicated to the outdoor conservation of the wetlands and other natural spaces that Braden cherished. As such, in lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page has been set up in Braden’s name.
