On the ice: Fergus Whalers close out season with big shutout win

FERGUS WHALERS

Despite the snow-filled weekend, the Whalers managed to play three games and pulled off a big win in one of them. 

The team first lost at home on Friday 4-2 against the Hanover Barons and then 5-3 against the Mitchell Hawks. 

Fergus closed out its regular season with a huge 8-0 shutout win over the Wingham Ironmen on Monday.

The team is up against the Mitchell Hawks in the playoffs with the first game on Saturday in Mitchell and then at home on Sunday. 

MOUNT FOREST PATRIOTS

The Patriots last regular season game was postponed due to weather conditions and will take place Tuesday evening in Mitchell against the Hawks. 

The team will face the Walkerton Capitals in a playoff series starting at home on Wednesday with game two and three taking place Friday in Walkerton and Saturday back on home ice.

MINTO 81’s

Minto’s playoff games scheduled for the past weekend were postponed.

The team remains up 2-0 in a best-of-seven series against the Creemore Coyotes in the opening round of the playoffs. 

Game three is scheduled for Friday evening in Palmerston, game four in Creemore on Saturday and then game five back in Palmerston on Sunday if necessary. 

ERIN OUTLAWS

Erin also had two games postponed over the weekend. 

The team is still down 2-0 in a best-of-seven series against the Ripley Wolves in the opening round of the playoffs.

Games three and are set to go ahead in Ripley on Wednesday and Friday evening.
