The Cogs and Clockwork Steampunk Festival was held in Fergus for the first time on Saturday. Steampunk is a science fiction subgenre that incorporates retrofuturistic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th Century industrial steam-powered machinery.

Aberfoyle Fall Fair

Puslinch Community Centre - 23 Brock Rd. S., Aberfoyle

5 p.m.

Activities and events for all ages including tractor pull, bouncy castles, motocross show and live music.

Arthur Fall Fair

Arthur and Area Community Centre - 158 Domville St., Arthur

7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The fair has a parade, ambassador program, homecrafts, children exhibits, 4-H livestock shows, inflatables for all ages, horse shows, kids power wheels derby, children’s activities, beef BBQ and much more.

Arthur Fall Fair

The Fergus Steampunk Festival will appeal to people interested in the unique science fiction sub-genre of steampunk, those who enjoy costumes and theatre, educational demonstrations as well as circus performers and buskers.

Grey Wellington Theatre Guild 50th Anniversary Gala

Harriston Town Hall and Harriston Legion - 68 Elora St. S., Harriston

6 p.m. to midnight

A full evening of dinner and musical theatre entertainment to celebrate the milestone anniversary. Cocktails and dinner is at the legion followed by a show at the town hall theatre before the party returns to the legion.

More than 60 established and emerging Canadian writers will be part of this year’s festival celebrating literature.
