The Lucas Rogerson Band and the Cara Smith Band are set to perform at the Welcome Back Concert, a new event hosted by the Fergus Agricultural Society on Sept. 15, 2022 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
“We haven’t been able to host a traditional in-person fair in nearly three years so we are excited to welcome people back to the fairgrounds and celebrate local music with an outdoor concert,” says Jennifer Craig, president of the Fergus Agricultural Society. “This new event is being planned by a group of volunteers who aim to offer a fun, affordable way for the community to gather and kick-off the 185th fair weekend.”
Performing professionally since he was 12, Lucas Rogerson, of Drayton, is an independent roots artist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and the founding member of the Settlers Creek Band. He is influenced by his folk, Celtic and country roots and also adds rock, jazz and pop to his music to deliver a diverse performance.
Cara Smith, of Mount Forest, is a country music singer who has been writing and performing for over 10 years. She has been the opening act for popular country bands like The Road Hammers, The Recklaws and Jason McCoy.
Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased online ahead of the event at fergusfallfair.square.site. Admission gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. Food vendors and the beer gardens will be open.
The Welcome Back Concert is sponsored by the Grand River Raceway, Price Team Mortgages and RLB LLP.
The Fergus Fall Fair is an annual showcase of local agriculture, food, talent and rural fun. The 185th fair will take place on September 16, 17 and 18, 2022 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex. Visit fergusfallfair.ca for a complete event listing.
