ELORA/SALEM – The public will get a chance to have its say on a proposed subdivision in Salem that would see nearly 300 new homes built.
On Wednesday at 6 p.m., the Clayton Subdivision’s rezoning request will be up for discussion at a public meeting at town hall in Elora.
The Clayton Subdivision is a proposal by Cachet Developments to build a mix of singles and townhouses on a 30-acre property at the corner of Irvine Street and Woolwich Street near Salem Public School.
Newly submitted documents state the proposal has been slightly revised since it was initially pitched.
The development is now planned to have 155 single-detached homes, 47 street townhouses and 84 lane access townhouses for a total of 286 lots, two less than the original plan.
The proposed development has also moved the park block from the northern property line to a central area and made it larger.
A planned road extension into the neighbouring existing subdivision has been changed into a walkway, an open space block on the western side of the property has been replaced with a restrictive easement to “protect the wooded feature to the west” and added lane townhouse units to provide a mix of house types.
A stormwater management facility is proposed for the Elora Sands property immediately east of Irvine Road which is also owned by Cachet Developments.
No decision will be made on the rezoning request at the meeting.
