PUSLINCH – A trucking company is proposing to relocate its headquarters to Puslinch.

Wellington Motor Freight has applied to rezone 128 Brock Rd. S., a 15-acre property near Gilmour Road, from highway commercial to industrial.

The buildings, including a three-storey office building, would total just under 218,000 square feet.

A planning report by consultant MHBC said this would permit a three storey office building and a warehouse to be the main location for the logistics company. Two existing dwellings on the property would be demolished.

This proposal would also include 170 employee parking spaces, 123 tractor and trailer parking spaces and 21 loading spaces.

This new location would consolidate the existing Puslinch office and bring in employees from Campbellville for a total over 100 employees and an additional 50 drivers.

According to the report, employees will operate on one shift between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and an average truck volume is anticipated at 15 trucks in and 15 trucks out per day.

Two driveways are proposed for access to the site with one for trucks on Brock Road South and an employee entrance on Gilmour Road.

A transportation impact study in support of the development forecast it to generate a little over 100 trips during peak hours which will delay traffic at the Brock Road South and driveway entrance by one second or less.

The report noted the subject lands are identified in the County of Wellington’s Official Plan to be within the Puslinch economic development area which is intended to be the predominant location for business and industry in the township.

This application is being discussed at a Tuesday Puslinch planning and development advisory committee meeting and will be subject to a public meeting at a later date.
