FERGUS – A recent local cancer research fundraiser ended up being a big success.

In a social media post, Team Addy said $72,000 had been raised from the Family Fun Day held on July 13.

“A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors and to everyone who donated, to all of our volunteers, your hard work, endless hours, sore feet and dedication with passion were the backbone of this event's success. We could not have done this without all of you,” the post said.

“We are truly humbled by the outpouring generosity and enthusiasm from everyone who attended, whether you traveled from near or far, your presence made a world of difference!”

Team Addy raises money for sarcoma cancer research for the SickKids Foundation in memory of Addy Hill, an Elora who died from a rare sarcoma cancer in 2022 at 14 years old.

The post said there will be an official cheque presentation after the upcoming Concert with Addy-tude which happens on Oct. 5.
