FERGUS – Fergus’ BIA had a fitting winner for a Scottish decorating contest.
The Fergus Scottish Corner Shop was announced as this year’s winner of the Paint the Town Tartan contest that saw downtown stores decorate in its best plaid.
Joyce Reimer, owner of the Scottish shop, will receive over $2,200 to go towards marketing with local media outlets for the winning entry.
A press release stated judging was based on creativity, inventive use of materials and “wow factor” and took place just prior to the festival weekend.
“The judging panel shared with the BIA executive how difficult it was to make a decision with so many entries this year,” the release said. “The windows were fabulous and made their job extra hard.”
Honourable mention went to Pure Water Canada who the press release said had a creative display using kilts, water pumps and tanks.
The Fergus BIA thanked all merchants who participated in the event.
